Cross-border project focussing on revitalizing the tourism sector in conjuction with the farm produce and timber sector with the goal of promoting Alpine tourism during the low seasonsBrief descriptionThe project is based on close co-operation between the three administrations and aims at defining tangible and innovative tourist offers for the low seasons (spring and autumn) to provide mountain resorts, which up to now have put their main focus on the winter season, with the support necessary to promote a more diversified form of tourism including vast territories and being able to direct the development of the tourist resorts towards clearly defined and readily indentifiable social and environmental sustainability. AimsThe aim of the project is to define a tourism product guaranteeing considerable added value (jobs) by including the local businesses of the three mountain municipalities in the border region. The project benefits from the fact that it combines public action and private initiatives (as well as voluteer work) and from the fact, which is innovative in this area, that it focuses on revitalizing the low seasons (spring and autumn) which have traditionally been considered as "dead" seasons in comparison to winter and summer tourism. The greatest challenge is to create a product whose strong point lies in revitalizing the entire tourism sector and the sectors most closely connected to tourism (farm produce and timber industry) which provide jobs to various local businesses. A detailed training, communications, promotion and marketing programme will focus on reinforcing the local identity, social cohesion across borders and the residentilal attractiveness of the tree municipalities.
